Paraphrasing

A man knows he is trespassing someone’s woods but says he will not be seen. The man is not on just a regular horse back riding trail he is out wondering in the woods, so his horse will not be used to not being in a barn. The horse is confused about where he is and why he is not in a barn. The man riding the horse will not stop for there are miles before he is allowed to go to sleep in the beautiful forest.

Not bad, but you don’t need to change person. If the poem’s in 1st person , write the paraphrase in 1st person – remember you are simply putting into ordinary language what the poet is saying poetically. Be careful to be precise as well. If there’s no mention – figurative or otherwise – of a barn in the original, don’t mention a barn in the paraphrase.
